Venue

PATMOS 2016 will take place in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. The conference hall is located at the town center of Bremen inside the Art Gallery Bremen (Kunsthalle Bremen). You can travel to Bremen by plane, whether directly to Airport of Bremen, or to one of the nearby cities: Hamburg and Hannover (both around one hour by train away).

Once in Bremen, you should look for tram line number 6, which is a connection between the airport and the University of Bremen. Line 6 goes via Domsheide/City-Center and Hauptbahnhof/Main-Station. The schedule for the public transport and ticket information can be found at the webpage of the BSAG.

More than 600 years of Masterpieces

Only a few minutes walk away from Bremen central market square, the Kunsthalle Bremen building is situated in the Wall gardens. Over the centuries, a rich and diverse collection has been assembled, containing outstanding paintings and sculptures as well as precious holdings of graphic art.
The collection of paintings centres on French and German art of the nineteenth and twentieth century. Special highlights are works by French impressionists such as Claude Monet, Edouard Manet and Paul Cezanne as well as the many paintings by Lovis Corinth, Max Liebermann, Max Beckmann, Paula Modersohn-Becker and media art by John Cage, Nam June Paik or Olafur Eliasson. Another highlight: an installation by American light artist James Turrell which has been integrated directly into the building architecture and which is unique of its kind. The Department of Prints and Drawings is the heart of the collection with more than 200,000 hand drawings and graphic sheets it is one of the largest in Europe.

The gallery private owner is to this day the Kunstverein in Bremen (the Bremen Art Association) founded in 1823, making it one of the oldest art associations in Germany.
